If something is wrong with a lot you won, you can open a claim. This page explains how claims, refunds and disputes work on Bidding Fever.
This page is a summary. The binding rules are in the Bidder Terms; if the two ever differ, the Bidder Terms apply.
What you can report
You can open a claim from your dashboard when a lot:
- is significantly different from its description
- arrives damaged
- is not received
- is missing major parts
Time limit
Open a claim as soon as you notice the problem, and no later than 14 days after pickup or delivery.
When a claim is usually declined
A claim is usually declined when:
- the lot matches its description
- the condition was disclosed and the lot was sold as-is
- the reason is a change of mind
- there is no reasonable evidence
- the claim is late
How to open a claim
From your dashboard:
- Find the lot you won and report a problem with it
- Choose what went wrong
- Describe the problem
- Add photos, messages or documents that support your claim
- Submit the claim
Seller response
The seller is notified and has 5 business days to respond (3 business days for a seller in its first 90 days). The seller can:
- accept a refund
- offer a partial refund
- decline the claim
If the seller does not respond in time, the claim may be escalated to Bidding Fever and decided on the evidence available.
Review by Bidding Fever
If the claim is not resolved, we review:
- the listing
- the evidence
- the history of both parties
Possible outcomes
A claim can end in:
- a full refund
- a partial refund
- a declined claim
- a referral to outside resolution
Refunds
Refunds go back to the original payment method. Most appear within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.
Unless the law or the outcome of a claim requires otherwise, the buyer's premium and processing fees are refunded only together with the lot they relate to.
We run the claims process fairly, but we do not guarantee an outcome, and we cannot always recover money that has already been paid out to a seller.
Chargebacks
If you think a charge is wrong, contact us or open a claim first. A chargeback on a valid charge can lead to an account review and restrictions, and we or the seller may contest it with evidence.
Bad-faith claims
False or abusive claims can lower your trust score and limit your access.
Your rights
You keep every right you have under consumer protection law, and you can contact your provincial consumer protection office at any time.
