1. Our commitment
1.1We want everyone to be able to browse, bid and sell on Bidding Fever, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, voice control or a small screen.
1.2Our target is Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 for our website and apps. We also follow the customer service and information requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.
1.3This statement describes where we stand today, including what does not yet meet the standard.
2. Current status
2.1Bidding Fever is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA: some content does not yet fully meet the standard. The known gaps are listed in section 3.
2.2We check the main public pages, in English and in French, at six screen widths from 360 to 1440 pixels, with automated tests based on the WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 Level A and AA rules. Automated tests also check the colour contrast of our design tokens and of the keyboard focus indicator.
2.3Automated tests find only some barriers. Manual testing with assistive technologies is under way and is not yet complete.
2.4Features already in place:
- a skip-to-content link on every page;
- a keyboard focus indicator tested for contrast on both light and dark backgrounds;
- pages that allow zooming and do not scroll sideways at small widths;
- the page language declared in English and in French, with a complete French version;
- labelled form fields and error messages.
3. Known limitations
3.1Gold text on light backgrounds: some text in our gold brand colour on white or light backgrounds has a contrast ratio of 2.10:1, below the 4.5:1 that WCAG requires for text. An audit of our source code on October 6, 2026 found 288 such places, mostly in seller and administration tools such as the auction setup wizard and auction templates, and 214 more that must be checked in a browser. We are replacing them with an accessible darker gold.
3.2Signed-in areas, including the seller portal, the administration area, the buyer dashboard and checkout, have not yet had a full accessibility audit. Our automated checks cover public pages.
3.3Our iPhone and Android apps have not yet been fully tested with VoiceOver, TalkBack and large text sizes on real devices.
3.4Invoice PDF files are not tagged for screen readers. The same information is available on the invoice page in your account.
3.5The auction map is hard to use without a mouse or with a screen reader. The same auctions are listed on the auctions page and in search.
3.6Lot photos and descriptions are written by sellers. Some photos may not have a detailed text description.
